Meet Chris Durnan, Home Manager of The Rowans
It is Chris’ responsibility to lead The Rowans heart-centred care approach as well as the day-to-day running of the home.
Chris began his healthcare journey as a care assistant at a local nursing home, where his passion for helping others quickly became evident. Over the years, he has held various roles, including Clinical Development Lead, Promotions and Marketing Manager, and Registered Manager—a role he held for six years overseeing five homes in the North West.
With his wealth of experience, genuine compassion, and commitment to heart-centred care, Chris is well-equipped to lead The Rowans.
Our dedicated team, selected for their emotional intelligence and compassion, is here to provide exceptional care every day. They bring warmth, patience, and a deep commitment to each person’s well-being, fostering a supportive and joyful atmosphere where everyone feels valued and respected. We support people who live with dementia and other conditions that may need the help of a nurse and care team. Our approach is of inclusivity and support – always.
A home that is an integral part of the community
At The Rowans you’ll feel the warmest sense of belonging. As we want to ensure that your life with us is as happy and fulfilling as possible, so we do things your way, every day.
Across all our EQ Care homes we place a great importance on inclusivity, meaning everyone is welcome here – not just you but friends, family and loved ones too. Its an ethos we hold in high regard and believe it to be integral for community engagement and supporting your day-to-day life with us.

Everything and everyone is excellent. I cannot find fault with anything or anyone. Your staff are so caring. I feel really good knowing my husband is so well looked after. Thank you everyone.
I wanted to share my opinion on The Rowans.
After the medical team told us Mum needed to have 24-hour Dementia nursing. I knew I had to find the best home for mum.
Mum’s needs are met with care. And this is most important to me.
I see Mum nearly every day. And I always feel welcome. It’s a very very emotional time for mum and my family.
If you are looking at nursing homes.
You will not be disappointed.
My mum has been in another care home for three years, she moved to The Rowans mid December, in that time the difference in her has been unbelievable, she is smiling, talking and just overall in such a better place in herself, she is more relaxed and nowhere as near as anxious as she was. The staff are outstanding they go above and beyond to make life the best it can be for my mum, I was constantly worried when she was at the old care home l was phoning daily and visiting daily. Now even though I call as often as I can I have no worries whatsoever when I am not there because I know Mum is being cared for so well, she is cleaner, happier, even her shaking has subsided so much and I really think this is due to her feeling more at home. I cannot recommend The Rowans enough if you have a family member who is in need of support don’t look further than The Rowans, you won’t find anywhere better as a place and the staff are amazing Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My dad has been in The Rowans for just over 4 weeks, and I have seen a massive difference in him in that time. Dad was frail and lost his confidence, he’s put on half stone in that time, eating everything they give him and his sense of humour has come back, all the staff say how funny and witty he is which makes me very happy. Before dad went into Rowans I was visiting him every day and staying for many hours, and now I don’t feel guilty leaving after a couple of hours and having a day off, because I know he is being looked after like royalty, if anyone is looking for a place for their love one The Rowans is the best place.

🇬🇧 VE Day at Our Homes – 80 Years On 🇬🇧
Today marks 80 years since Victory in Europe Day, and our homes came together to celebrate with a wonderful mix of remembrance and joy.
Our people enjoyed a 1940s-themed street party, complete with Union Jack cakes, flags, and music bringing the spirit of the era to life. Looking through old photographs sparked special memories, as we honoured the resilience and stories of a remarkable generation.
What a wonderful day it has been!

🌟 Introducing Our New Chapter: Bracebridge Care Group is Now EQ Care Group! 🌟
A fresh look, a new name, but the same unwavering dedication to what matters most.
Our mission has always been to put people at the centre of everything we do. At EQ Care, everything we do has real gravitas and meaning, it’s not just what we do, it’s who we are.
Our new name reflects this foundation. EQ stands for Emotional Quotient — the measure of emotional intelligence, and the heart of how we care. It’s about empathy, connection, and understanding.
This rebrand represents an exciting new chapter, but our core values remain unchanged:
• Everyone cares from the heart.
• Everything is done with intention.
• Every action is rooted in emotional intelligence.
🎥 Tune in to hear from our CEO, Samantha Crawley, as she shares more on this new transformation.
