Our Care Home

What are the care home team like?

We pride ourselves on employing people with the right values and personalities for our homes.  Not only are they skilled in what they do crucially they have the right attitude and heart.  We’re also a genuinely inclusive employer. In fact, we work with Stonewall as part of their Diversity Champions programme and believe every person has a right to feel respected, dignified, supported and that they belong.

How many visitors may I have at any one time?

Your visitors are always welcome to the home at any time.

What happens if I do not wish to have any visitors?

It is up to you when and if you wish to see your visitors. Our teams will be well-versed on who your regular visitors are.  If there is someone you don’t want to see, please just let us know and we will handle with the utmost sensitivity.

If I have a car, is there car parking available at the home?

Yes. The home has a car park for you to use.

Is there visitor car parking?

Yes. There is visitor parking.

What security measures are in place in the evenings?

All doors are accessible at night via intercom/keypad. For added reassurance, there will be a senior team member on duty at the home at all times.

Is there a time in the evening that I have to return to the home by?

No, you may come and go as you please. However, if you are going to be exceptionally late and this is not your normal time of returning to the home we request that you let one of our team know.

Is there transport to the local towns and places of interest?

Our team members will happily arrange transport for outings to towns and places of interest.  If there is something specific you have in mind, please just ask.

Am I allowed to leave the home as I please?

Yes, you may come and go as you please. We do ask that you just let us know.

Financial

What type of financial options are available when taking up residency?

There are a number of different options depending on your financial circumstances, care needs and personal requirements.

Can I pay for additional care?

You can request an increase in the level of care you receive at any time. All requests will be assessed and may incur additional costs.

Are all rooms priced at the same rate?

Our rooms vary in price dependent upon size, layout and amenities/facilities.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. There are no introduction or service fees. The fees agreed as part of our Residency Agreement cover all costs excluding additional services.

Resident Rooms

Will toiletries be provided?

We do ask that you supply your own, however if you require support to purchase your toiletries the team will be happy to help.

Will towels and linen be provided?

Yes, these are provided. However, you prefer your own towels and linen you are welcome to bring those too.

Is there a safe in my room?

We don’t have safes but we do have lockable drawers/cabinet where personal/valuable items can be stored.

Is there WIFI in my room?

Yes, all our rooms come with WIFI as standard.

Who pays for the TV license?

The television license is managed by us with no extra cost to you.

Can I have a fridge in my room?

We are happy for you to bring your own fridge but due to health and safety reasons this must Portable Appliance Tested (PAT) before you bring it into the home.

Can I have a kettle in my room?

Yes although we will ensure a risk assessment is undertaken first to ensure your safety is maintained whilst using it.

Can I choose where my room is located?

We try to offer people a choice of rooms where possible. This is dependent upon the number of rooms available at the time.

Can I change rooms if one becomes available?

Yes, as long as the room is available in the appropriate area of the home that can meet your needs. There may be additional charges applied.

Can I use a mobility scooter within the home?

The use of mobility scooters will be assessed at the pre-admission assessment and a decision will be reached at that time on the suitability for the home to accept a scooter.

Care

What bathing facilities are there?

All our rooms come with wet rooms (showers) and bathrooms with assisted baths. If you require to sit whilst showering we will provide a shower chair for your comfort.

Who is my local GP?

If you live within the area you may be able to remain with your current GP; if this isn’t possible, we will offer you an alternative GP.

Can I contact my GP without speaking to any staff?

Yes of course, however we request that you advise us as we have a duty to keep your plan of care and support up to date.

Can I view my plan of care and support at any time?

Yes of course. We work with you throughout your stay to ensure your plans of care and support is right for you

What will happen if I lose capacity whilst at the home?

There are various levels of capacity which we would ascertain from assessing you. We ensure you are continually supported in every way to make your own choices and that your wishes are met.

Are relationships with other residents encouraged?

Absolutely, but this is of course up to personal preference. We appreciate that some people may prefer their own company and so we respect their wishes. If you lack confidence then we will help you engage with like-minded residents.

Can I request gender specific carers for my personal care needs?

Yes of course. Any such request will be logged in your plan of care and support which all team members will respect and adhere to.

Are there resident meetings?

Yes, we encourage you to contribute in the planning and organising of your day and how operations of the home can work to suit you.

Do I need to sign up for events and activities?

No, we will discuss your interest and hobbies with you prior to and upon admission.  We will be fully aware of your likes and dislikes and how you wish to spend your time will be up to you.

Is there a nail and hair salon?

There isn’t a salon on-site but we can arrange for mobile nail and salon services to visit you. Please speak to any team member about this and treatment price lists.

Will there be any events or talks from local people?

Our homes are for the local communities so we openly encourage talks and exhibitions from local clubs and societies. If there is anything in particular you would be interested in hearing about, please do talk to a team member.

Housekeeping

How often is my room cleaned and the bed sheets changed?

Rooms are cleaned daily, with a deep clean completed every month. Bed sheets will be changed in accordance with your wishes.

How often will the windows be cleaned in my room?

Windows will be cleaned inside and out every month.

Catering

Are vegan, vegetarian and other dietary requirements considered for residents?

Yes. We understand that everyone has different tastes and dietary requirements.  Your likes and dislikes will be discussed at lengths so we will be discussed before admission into the home. Any and all dietary requirements will be accommodated by our skilled culinary team throughout your stay.

Do the meals contain nutritional value?

Our chefs provide healthy, balanced menus.  Not only is our food delicious, but we ensure it reflects everyone’s differing tastes as well as their health and cultural needs.

Can I have food and drink delivered to my room?

Where you want to eat is up to you.  Whilst we encourage you to dine in the restaurant but understand that sometimes it is nice to enjoy meals in your own room.

Am I allowed alcohol and is there any additional cost?

Yes of course, wine is served with meals in our homes.  You can also purchase your own alcohol for your own consumption.

Are residents allowed to help cook food?

Absolutely, Infact, we encourage this.  Whether you like baking cakes or cooking a roast we have the facilities for you to do so.
